Two Movies I Totally Want to See

RP to M Logo

I hardly write about movies on this blog but you can be sure that when I do, its because the movie (or in this case movies) is well worth mentioning! The first on my list is "District 9". District 9 is a film being produced by Peter Jackson. The movie takes place in Johannesburg, South Africa and is influenced by the real life "District 6" in Cape Town. In this movie, 28 years before the start of the film, Humanity made first contact with an alien species but instead of encountering an interstellar war or the acquirement of advanced technology, the aliens are refugees. Now the people of Earth are stuck dealing with what to do about their new residents.

2012 deals with the Mayan prediction of the end of the world in 2012. It's looking to be a great story of human survival and human spirit. I'll let the trailer speak for itself.

With all of that said. I just cant wait! I hope the trailers got you just as excited as they did for me!

ECA wants gamers to join the fight for Net Neutrality

Photobucket

--- Official Press Release ---

Now is the time for you to stand up for your rights and join millions of Americans of every political persuasion in the fight for Net Neutrality. Net Neutrality is the principle that ensures that gamers are free to go where they want, do what they like, and connect with whom they choose onlin. Congressmen Ed Markey (D-MA) and Anna Eshoo (D-CA) have introduced H.R. 3458, the Internet Freedom Preservation Act of 2009.

Take action now and tell Congress to make Net Neutrality the law of the land. Without Net Neutrality, your Internet Service Provider is free to: charge you extra for playing World of Warcraft, to interfere with Xbox Live, or to completely shut off your ability to access for favorite web sites. Net Neutrality effects your entire online experience...

This is our best chance yet in making sure that Net Neutrality is passed by Congress. The head of the FCC supports it, the President of the United States supports it, and we're asking you to make sure to tell Congress you support it. Take a moment to send them the message to make Net Neutrality the law.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

People, net neutrality is a BIG deal and effects online communication as we know it. Please join the ECA in their fight to make the Internet open for everyone.

Blog News 08/05/2009

Hi Everyone,

I know that it has been a while since I have posted anything but lately, things in life have been pretty hectic. What's new, right? I'm struggling with some emotional issues to say the least but it doesn't mean that I have totally forgotten about the blog. Actually I have three lengthy articles that are almost prime for posting. Speaking of "Prime", let's not forget that "Metroid Prime: Trilogy" is due out this month! I have mixed feelings about this release but as a Nintendo fan I will still support it. I do like the fact that the achievement system from "Metroid Prime 3: Corruption" has been included in the port of Prime one and two (Echoes). As for the blog, today, expect to see an influx of news. I will try to add things that I believe are totally worthwhile. For now, I will say good buy. I'll be busy bringing you some good news!

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, on Wii?!

Photobucket

That's right! Remember this game from November of 2007? The news this year is that instead of getting a port of "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" Wii owners are getting a port of the prequel. As expected, Activision's Treyarch studio is expected to handle the Wii port of the game that many call the best first person shooter of all time. Look out for the official announcement which is expected this week.

Should Games JUST be Fun?

Photobucket

Note: Its not the subject matter that is mature but the fact that there is one "F-bomb" tossed out that might be objectionable to parents.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

... If you watched the video above, that was David Jeffe from "Eat Sleep Play" studios. He has directed some pretty big (non-Nintendo) games such as, "God of War" and "Twisted Metal Black". I wanted to know what all of you think about that video because I'm beginning to ask myself, this question. "What is it that stops developers from being able to make a artsy game or for the audience to accept said game?" There has been a lot of debate over the years about games pushing the boundaries of its medium. While I do agree that some games should take their-selves more seriously and try to invoke more emotion out of the player, there is no doubt that "fun" games are just as important. I guess the key to a healthy gaming industry and gamer is balance. Personally, I try to balance my library. I have games that are just plain goofy and fun like "Dance Dance Revolution" and "Wii Sports Resort" but, I also have games that are serious and are about the story, "Metroid Prime 3: Corruption" or "Resident Evil 4". What is it people? Should developers start making more artsy games or more serious games? Should developers just focus on the fun factor? What do you think is the key to sucess for the industry?
